ANCOM

On Tuesday, October 21, 2003, the National Regulatory Authority for Communications informed RomTelecom S.A. about its position regarding the withdrawal of the incumbent’s request to increase the retail tariffs for the calls originated in the operator’s network and terminated in other fixed public networks.

In this manner, RomTelecom will charge for the calls originated in its network and terminated in other fixed telephone networks the tariffs previously approved by ANRC and communicated on September 2, 2003. These tariffs are equivalent to those RomTelecom charges for calls originated and terminated in its own network, as follows:

In the letter from ANRC that communicated RomTelecom its agreement with the abovementioned tariffs, the Authority underlined that these tariffs will be charged by the operator for the calls to all the fixed public networks, irrespective of the interconnection tariffs negotiated with the other operators.

According to the provisions of Law no.304/2003 on universal service and the end users’ rights regarding the electronic communications networks and services, RomTelecom has to request the approval of ANRC when modifying the tariffs for any of the retail services provided.
