ANCOM

Starting February 11, 2003, the Register of electronic communications networks and services providers may be consulted on line on ANRC Internet page.

The National Regulatory Authority for Communications (ANRC) makes publicly available, on its website (www.anrc.ro), information regarding both the companies that notified and the networks and services they intend to provide.

So far, the General Authorization and Licenses Section within ANRC has a database of 552 companies that notified for General Authorization. Among these, 397 companies have received standard certificates that testify the conformity of the notification files and their right to provide the networks and services stipulated. The other files are currently analyzed by the ANRC specialists. When the files are declared completed, the companies will receive the above-mentioned standard certificates.

The public Register of electronic communications networks and services providers comprises information regarding the 397 companies for which ANRC has already issued the standard certificate and, consequently, have the right to provide electronic communications networks and services. The data will be permanently updated and the number of registered companies will either grow as the General Authorization and Licenses Section within ANRC issues new certificates or decreases as ANRC withdraws the right of certain companies to provide networks and services or these companies give up this right. The notifications registration will continue throughout the activity of ANRC and the public register will permanently be available online.

The public register was designed to allow multiple searching: an entry may be searched by name, by the networks the company provides (public or private networks) or by the electronic communications services provided (telephony, leased lines, others). Also, the providers may be searched by the location of their Headquarters.

„The publication of this register comes with the transparency policy implemented by ANRC, but we are aware that it represents an important resource and a necessary instrument for the Romanian communication industry, as well. At the same time, the Public Register is a catalogue that can be accessed by any consumer. We believe it will be useful, for example, whenever the inhabitants of a district need to know which providers they can contact for different services. The Register is in fact the foundation on which ANRC will ground a complex consumer guide, with complete updated information on the tariffs charged by the authorized providers and on the quality of their services, as they put forth their offers ”, declared Ion Smeeianu, President of ANRC.
