Language

The official language of Romania is Romanian. You will also find that numerous people are fluent in English and French.

Currency

The Romanian currency unit is pronounced LEU (plural LEI). As of July 1, 2005, Romania‘s currency has been denominated so that ROL 10,000 are exchanged for 1 new LEU (RON). For up-to-date information, please visit the website of the National Bank of Romania (www.bnr.ro).

Romanian local time is GMT+2 hours. Romanian local daylight saving time is GMT +3 hours (EET).

Weather Information

Mamaia resort has a maritime littoral climate with annual average temperatures exceeding 11°C – the July average exceeds 22°C. In summer, the sun shines for 10-12 hours a day and there are low chances of rain (about 400 mm annually). Natural cure factors are the balmy marine climate, the saline aerosol, the solar radiation and the water of the Black Sea, which contains chlorine, sulphur, sodium, magnesium.

Credit Cards

Credit cards accepted in Romania: Visa, EuroCard, MasterCard, American Express. Cash withdrawal machines are available. Restaurants, hotels, car rental agencies and most of the shops accept all major credit cards.

Electrical Appliances

Romania uses 220 V, 50 Hz. Plugs are two-pin continental size.
