ANCOM Welcomes Telecommunications Students to Internship

Today, 22 May 2009, ANCOM organised, at its premises in Bucharest, Cluj, Iasi and Timisoara, meetings with more than 100 students and with professors of the faculties of Electronics and Telecommunications of the four university centres. The programme “ANCOM Supports the Student Community” is aimed at fostering a career for the speciality students, offering them access to information in the electronic communications field and to case studies, as well as a dynamic perspective on a career in an institution with regulatory, administration and control attributions in the sector of communications.

“Starting from the academic year 2009-2010, ANCOM will offer the students in the 3^rd and 4^th years of the speciality faculties in these four university centres the possibility to have a 10-day internship in the Authority’s technical departments”, Mr. Catalin Marinescu, the ANCOM President, declared in the opening session of this event. The President and the ANCOM specialists presented the students the Authority’s activity, as well as the procedures involved in a mission for monitoring the use of the radio spectrum.

During a video-conference, the ANCOM President also showed the participants in the sessions organised at the Authority’s territorial departments that the students would have the opportunity to find more on the process of establishing the principles of technical and economic regulation, on the stages preceding the adoption of a regulation, on organising the tracking of unauthorised emissions and harmful interferences, or the verification of equipments in view of assessing their compliance with the limits of the compatibility standards and the measurement of the spectral density. During the internship, the students will be under the supervision of a tutor and will also spend a day planning their career together with the Authority’s Human Resources specialists.

In Bucharest, the students and the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technology, Professor Cristian Negrescu, Ph.D. in Engineering, participated also in two practical sessions during which the ANCOM specialists presented the technical equipment used for spectrum monitoring and the mobile monitoring stations.
