ANCOM


On November 7, 2017, Sorin Grindeanu was appointed President of the National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM), for the remaining period of the six-year mandate commenced on 11 May 2017, by Parliament Decision no. 93 of 7 November 2017, published in the Official Journal of Romania no. 877 of 7 November 2017.

Experience

During the 2012 – 2016 parliamentary legislature, as a Timis deputy, Sorin Grindeanu was a member of the Commission for Communications and Information Technology, and subsequently Ministry of Communications. In January – June 2017 he was Prime Minister of Romania.

During 2001 – 2004 he was a director of the Timiş County Directorate for Youth and Sport, for the next three years working in the private sector as a deputy general manager of Delpack Invest SRL. From 2004 to 2008 he was a local counsellor – for two years -, and then president of the Timis County Council – for the next two years. From 2008 until 2012 he was Deputy Mayor of Timisoara.

From October 1998 to December 2001 he was a teaching assistant, then assistant professor at the Faculty of Sociology and Psychology of the West University of Timisoara.

Education

Sorin Grindeanu is a graduate of the West University of Timisoara, Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science Department (1992-1997) and holds a Master of Science degree in Databases from the same university. He obtained a Tempus scholarship at the University of Bologna (Italy) in the field of social statistics, then attended a course in security, diplomacy and foreign policy at the Romanian Diplomatic Institute and a postgraduate professional development training programme in Military Sciences, Intelligence and Public Order at the National Intelligence Academy.
