Between 2 April and 12 May 2010, the National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications, by means of its territorial divisions of Bucharest, Cluj, Iasi and Timisoara, organises the ordinary examination session for the persons who wish to achieve the certificates of radioamateur and, respectively, of radio operator in the land mobile service.
ANCOM grants the certificates following an examination, structured in two ordinary sessions, in the months of April and October each year, and organised by its regional divisions.
The examination sessions for the certificates ofradio operator in the land mobile service will be taken as follows: on2 April 2011 inIasi, on 12 and 13 April 2011inBucharest, on10 and 11 May 2011inTimisoara, and on 12 May 2011inCluj. The examinations for the radioamateur certificates will be held on 5 and 6 April in Bucharest, on 9 April in Iasi and Cluj, and on 12 Aprilin Timisoara. The interested persons can register for the two types of examinations by submitting a registration request, along with a copy of the requester’s ID card/birth certificate or passport and a colour photo, passport-type. In addition, the applicants for the certificate of radio operator in the land mobile service need to provide the proof of middle school graduation.
The specific users of the land mobile radiocommunications networks of private use – who need a radio operator certificate in order to operate radiocommunications stations – are both small entrepreneurs and large companies that require radio communications through their own networks. These companies operate in domains such as: industry, production, utility transport and distribution at a national level, transport, constructions and public works, agriculture, forestry, security and protection of privacy, public protection, public health, community management services etc. There are more than 15,700 valid operator certificates for the radiocommunications stations in the land mobile service.
Radio amateurism is mainly a hobby, with yet a profound competitive side at a local and an international level. This enables radio amateurs to distinguish themselves within various international trials and competitions in the field. Furthermore, radio amateurism allows for: developing abilities in using the radiocommunications stations, regardless of the user’s age; knowing in-depth the phenomenon of radio propagation in various frequency bands; making and testing radiocommunications equipment, as well as participating, together with the relevant public institutions, to ensuring radiocommunications under emergency situations, a fact acknowledged nationally and internationally. In Romania there are currently more than5,400 radioamateurs authorised by ANCOM.
