On Wednesday, 16 March 2011, the President of ANCOM, Mr. Cătălin Marinescu, participated in the event held by Nokia Siemens Networksin view of testing the Long Term Evolution technology in the 2.6 GHz band. The ANCOM President said during the event that, by this endyear, the strategy on the introduction of broadband mobile communications services in the 2500-2690 MHz and 790-862 MHz frequency bands will be completed.
"Hence, at end-2012, ANCOM will be able to launch the tender for the operators. There are high chances to have awarded the licences in the first half of the following year and to enhance the investments in mobile broadband. In awarding the licences, we will follow the German model, stimulating the coverage of the less favoured areas ", Marinescu said.
