In the context of the European Commission Communication COM(2025)37 – “A comprehensive EU toolbox for safe and sustainable e-commerce”, the National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM), as Digital Services Coordinator for Romania (DSC), organised a working meeting with the national competent authorities in the field of market surveillance.
The meeting brought to the table representatives of the National Authority for Consumer Protection, the Romanian Customs Authority, as well as the Ministry of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship, and Tourism, the Labor Inspectorate, the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority, the National Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices of Romania, the Romanian Vehicle Registry and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The meeting was also attended by a representative of the European Commission in Romania.
The Commission’s communication highlights the need for enhanced cooperation between authorities responsible for enforcing harmonized EU legislation, in particular with regard to combating the online sale of non-compliant or dangerous products and ensuring consistent enforcement of the Digital Services Act in complementarity with the market surveillance framework represented by the EU Market Surveillance and Product Compliance Regulation.
The meeting organized by ANCOM aimed to facilitate inter-institutional dialogue, clarify the roles and responsibilities of the authorities involved, and identify effective cooperation mechanisms, in line with the coordinated approach promoted by the European Commission.
ANCOM reaffirms its commitment to actively contribute to the implementation of the European framework on digital services, in close collaboration with the relevant national and European authorities, with a view to protecting consumers and ensuring a safe and fair online environment.
