Initiate a call to a telephone number
– a fixed telephone number from Italy (Rome – prefix 06)
You dial the international code “00” + the country’s prefix (e.g. “1” for United States of America) + national number (local number and area prefix).
If you call from a cell phone, the international exit code “00” is replaced with “+”.
For international calls, you do not dial the “0” digit anymore, if this is already included in the area prefix (except for the Italian fixed telephone numbers).
from abroad to Romania
Italy – Romania/Bucharest
00.40.21.xxx.xxxx
Particular case:
USA – Romania/Bucharest
011.40.21.xxx.xxxx – you dial from USA a number in Romania (Bucharest)
You dial the international exit code of the country where you are (in most cases this is “00”) + Romania’s prefix (“40”) + the telephone number except for the first digit (i.e. the last 9 digits).
