Between 22 September and 24 October 2009, the National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications, by means of its territorial divisions of Bucharest, Cluj, Iasi and Timisoara, organises this year’s second ordinary examination session for the persons who wish to achieve the certificates of radioamateur and, respectively, of radio operator in the land mobile service.

ANCOM grants the certificates following an examination, structured in two ordinary sessions, in the months of April and October each year, and organised by its regional divisions.

The exams for the radioamateur certificate will be taken as follows: on 1 October 2009 in Timisoara, on 17 October 2009 in Cluj, on 20 and 21 October 2009 in Bucharest and on 24 October in Iasi.

The examination sessions for the certificates of radio operator in the land mobile service will be taken as follows: on 22 and 23 September 2009 in Timisoara, on 13 and 14 October 2009 in Bucharest and on 15 October in Cluj. F

The interested persons may register to the two types of examinations by submitting a registration request together with a copy of his/her identity card/birth certificate or passport and a passport-size colour photo.

The specific users of the land mobile radiocommunications networks for private use are both small entrepreneurs and large companies whose activities in various economy areas require self-supplied radio communications: industry, manufacture, transport and distribution of public utilities, at the national level, transports, constructions and public works, agriculture, forestry, security and protection of life and private property, public protection, public health, local administration services etc.

In order to participate in the exam, the candidates that wish to achieve the radioamateur certificate must be aware of the domestic and international regulations in the field, such as the Radiocommunications Regulation for amateur service in Romania and the relevant sections of the Radiocommunications Regulation issued by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), as well as of the electronics and radio engineering notions and technical rules on work safety. They must also have knowledge of the procedures of operating radiocommunications stations. During the examination, candidates will take a practical exam, as well, in order to prove their knowledge on radiocommunications traffic rules.

Similarly, the candidates that wish to achieve the certificate of radio operator in the land mobile service must be aware of the domestic and international regulations in the field, such as the Regulation for the personnel operating radiocommunications stations in Romania, the relevant sections of the Radiocommunications Regulation issued by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and the procedures of operating radiocommunications stations.

In Romania, there are more than 4,000 radioamateurs authorised by ANCOM and more than 22,000 radio operators in the land mobile service. Approximately 3 million persons practice radioamateurism as a sport or a hobby.
