The National Authority for Communications launches for public consultation a draft decision aimed at setting the 31st of July 2009 as the deadline by which the providers of publicly available telephone services that allocate telephone numbers to their subscribers should make their databases available for the universal service providers designated in view of providing directory enquiry services and subscriber directories.
“Taking into account that ANC will soon initiate the procedure of designating the Universal Service providers for the directory enquiry services and the subscriber directories, which is to be completed by the end of March 2009, we deem necessary that the deadline by which the telephony providers must make available their own subscriber databases should be 31 July 2009”, Mr. Liviu Nistoran, the ANC President, declared.
The directory enquiry service and the release of a subscriber directory are services included within the scope of Universal Service, their provision aiming to promote competition and to ensure each user’s possibility to access information on the subscribers of all the publicly available telephone services.
The draft decision regarding the amendment of ANRC President’s Decision no. 1.074/2004 on the implementation of Universal Service in the electronic communications sector is available on the ANC website. The interested persons are invited to send their comments and suggestions, to the ANC headquarters (2 Delea Noua Street, sector 3, Bucharest) or directly to the ANC registration office, as well as to its territorial branches in the closest county capital city, not later than 05.01.2009. Comments may be sent, as well, by fax, to +40 21 307 54 02, or by e-mail to consultare@anrcti.ro.
