Today, September 23, 2008, ANC has granted Romtelecom the licence for mobile communications in the 410-415/420-425 MHz frequency bands, after this company won, on September 8, the tender organised for this purpose.
The licence was granted two weeks after Romtelecom paid to the state budget the licence fee, i.e. the RON equivalent of one million EUR.
Previously, ANC had analysed and rejected as ungrounded the complaints filed by Saudi Oger and Tactical Networks, which challenged the offer assessment manner. The complaints were analysed by a commission specially designated therefor, whose members were not members of the offer assessment commission.
The licence granted today enables Romtelecom to build, hold and operate a broadband network, as well as to offer broadband services to consumers. The licence was granted for 10 years.
On December 31, 2010, ANC shall conduct the first assessment of the geographic coverage Romtelecom assumed by its offer, whereas the remaining two network roll-out phases are to be assessed on June 30, 2012, respectively on December 31, 2013.
