ANCOM

On Thursday, 24 June 2010, the president of the National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM), Mr. Catalin Marinescu, reminded the 150 representatives of the providers of electronic communications networks or services who participated in the Regional Meeting held in Bucharest that, in order to keep their right to operate in this market, they must go through the re-authorisation procedure, by the end of the current year. Otherwise, they will implicitly lose their capacity as providers.

The Authority will send, in the next period, notification messages to all the more than 1,900 providers currently registered with ANCOM, making available to each of them a link towards the Notification Standard-Form and the Description File for networks and services already bearing their identification data, as per ANCOM’s current database. The providers will have the opportunity to fill in these documents on-line, then print and send them, duly signed and sealed, to the ANCOM office in the respective region.

In order to assist the providers, ANCOM has launched an application for filling in the re-authorisation documents in electronic format, certain fields of the required forms being already completed with the data currently available under the Providers’ Record. The e-mailed letters will contain a personalised link leading to the ANCOM server location, where the providers will be able to both easily and effectively fill in the forms and print them, so as to readily sign, seal and send them to ANCOM. Moreover, we make available to the providers the telephone numbers for technical assistance, our colleagues in the Authority’s county offices being ready to answer their queries, so that the re-authorisation process should go smoothly and swiftly”, Mr. Catalin Marinescu, the ANCOM president, declared.

The over 150 participants in the second Regional Meeting organised by ANCOM, in Bucharest, after the first one held in Timisoara at the beginning of June, discussed with the ANCOM representatives issues regarding the evolution of the markets of electronic communications and of postal services, the activity, the objectives and the priorities of the Authority in 2010, the latest legislative developments, the regulatory decisions and the market monitoring and control activities. Furthermore, the operators had the possibility to ask questions and put forward a series of problems they face at the local level, to which ANCOM could offer answers and propose solutions. Providers of electronic communications networks and services as well as providers of postal services in the counties of Giurgiu, Buzau, Ilfov and in Bucharest were invited to this meeting.
