Today, November 28, 2006, the President of the National Regulatory Authority for Communications, Mr. Dan Georgescu, participated in the conference entitled “Digital Day – Hard and Soft Accession”, organised by Jurnalul National.

“At present, we may fight in duels of ideas and concepts at a national level, but at an international level, the National Regulatory Authority for Communications and the electronic communications industry must jointly represent the national interest. The national market will be part of a larger, European one, and we should keep this in mind. This is the very reason why we should pay special attention to reviewing two issues: the regulatory framework and the market definitions”, Mr. Dan Georgescu declared during the conference.

The ANRC President also mentioned the changes which are likely to occur in the sector from January 1, 2007, and to which we should adjust, since – from then on – the Authority will have to collaborate, within an institutional framework, with the European Comission and with the other national regulatory authorities in the European Union, in view of adopting regulations.

The event comprised two debate sessions – i.e. information technology and telecommunications – during which the participants discussed on topics such as the development of the IT&C market, the interconnection tariffs, the roaming services market and the future of this market in 2007.

Mr. Dan Georgescu participated in the second session, together with Mr. Varujan Pambuccian, President of the IT&C Commission of the Chamber of Deputies and with representatives of the fixed, mobile and cable operators.
