ANRC allotted new numbering resources for the provision of telephone services to Romtelecom and Vodafone Romania.
Romtelecom requested and was granted the right to use 10,000 new numbers for the provision of fixed telephone services (within the 0Z=02 domain) in the county of Braila. So far, Romtelecom has been grated 13,074,000 numbers for fixed telephone services, 471,000 numbers for the provision of various services within the 0Z=08 domain, 30,000 numbers within the 0Z=09 domain for Premium Rate services, as well as the individual codes 1010 – for two-step carrier selection and 1610 – for one-step carrier selection.
Vodafone Romania was granted the right to provide one million numbers for the provision of mobile telephone services, this company now holding 11 million national numbers within the 0Z=07 domain.
By the end of 2005, in Romania, there were more than 13.35 million mobile telephony users and over 4.39 million fixed telephony users. In December 2005, 74 alternative providers operated on the fixed telephony market, holding a total market share of approximately 10%.
