ANRCTI Starts the Procedure of Granting the Licences for the Frequency Bands Enabling the WiMax Implementation

The President of ANRCTI, Liviu Nistoran, appointed the commission that shall asses the offers submitted within the procedure for the granting of licences for the 3600-3657 MHz and 3700-3757 MHz frequency bands, which are to allow the implementation of the WiMAX Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) systems.

„The draft terms of reference shall be published for consultation on September 29, the final version is to be available for purchase at mid-October. Afterwards, most likely by the end of 2008, the offers will be elaborated, submitted and assessed and the winning offer will be established”, Liviu Nistoran, the President of ANRCTI, declared.

The tender commission, consisting of six members and a president, shall elaborate the draft and the final version of the terms of reference, shall elaborate the answers to the requests of clarifications, shall assess the offers and shall submit its results to the President of ANRCTI for approval, as well as for making the proposal of licence granting.

The terms of reference shall include certain mandatory provisions such as: the technical conditions for the use of the tendered frequency bands, the minimal requirements the tenderers need to observe in order to be deemed eligible, the minimum obligations the tenderers will have to observe if they win the tender, the scoring grid, as well as any other aspects the tender commission considers relevant.
