Today, 8 December 2004, ANRC submitted to public consultation a new draft decision on the publication of the List of Technical Standards and Specifications for Electronic Communications Networks and Services and the Associated Infrastructure and Services.
According to the new European regulatory framework, the implementation of technical standards and specifications included in this list is voluntary, as the technological neutrality is promoted.
In view of ensuring the compatibility of various technologies used by the providers of electronic communicatuions networks and services, and in view of the alignment to the European Union regulations, ANRC recommends the implementation of the most frequently used technical standards and specifications.
The list of standards is divided into categories: networks’ interconnection, unbundled access to the local loop, lease lines services, number portability, carrier selection and preselection. The document also includes references regarding the implementation of the various services offered to the end-users, as well as standards for implementing the requirements regarding the protection of personal data and life privacy.
The technical standards and specifications comprised by this document are destined to represent an incentive for a harmonised provision of the electronic communications, networks, the electronic communications services and the associated infrastructure and services, in view of ensuring the interoperability of services and the freedom of choice for the end-users.
The document is available for consultation of the website of ANRC. All interested persons are invited to send their comments until 24 ianuarie 2005.
