Portability allows telephone users to keep their phone numbers while switching providers in pursuit of the best offers on the market. However, there are situations where users reconsider the decision to port their numbers, for example, where the current provider proposes a new, better offer. ANCOM reminds that the cancellation of the porting process is possible only under certain conditions and within certain terms.
Conditions for porting cancellation
- The request for porting cancellation must be submitted to the operator where the porting was requested (the acceptor provider). If the porting request has been submitted by distance communication means, the cancellation request may be submitted to the acceptor provider in a similar manner. The standard form for the porting cancellation request is available here or directly at the acceptor provider.
- The cancellation request must be submitted no later than 24 hours before the porting moment (date and time) agreed with the acceptor provider. Exceeding this deadline usually leads to the completion of the porting process, and a completed porting process can no longer be canceled. Only working days are counted in calculating the porting and the porting cancellation deadlines.
- After receiving the cancellation request, the provider has the obligation to confirm its receipt and processing. It is very important for users to request and keep proof of registering the porting cancellation request with the provider.
- If the contract concluded with the acceptor provider also involves the purchase of a terminal, it is important for users to check the contractual clauses relating to it. Canceling the porting does not cancel the costs related to terminals.
Important! ANCOM is not in a position to order the cancellation of a porting process. This can only be done by the parties involved in this process: the acceptor provider and the user.
Complaint-related information
In case of problems encountered during the porting cancellation process, users must first contact the acceptor provider, to whose network they intended to port their numbers.
If the porting cancellation requests are not resolved or clarified by the acceptor provider, users can complain to ANCOM. To assist them in the complaint process and facilitate a prompt response, the Authority has made available a Form for porting cancellation complaints. In order for the notification sent to ANCOM to be analysed, users must present proof of contacting the acceptor provider and of submitting the porting cancellation request.
