Mamaia, Romania

Mamaia is the oldest Romanian Black Sea resort, located just North of Constanta, between the Black Sea and Lake Siutghiol. Mamaia is part of the city of Constanta from an administrative point of view.

Officially inaugurated in 1906, it has developed and blossomed after 1919, upon establishment of a casino and after the building of several opulent villas. Mamaia became a summer residence of King Ferdinand.

The “Pearl” of the Romanian Sea Coast owes its name to its beaches, very large and unbelievably fine sands. The beach is sunny and smooth; the layer of sand spreads over 8 km. During the hottest summer days, the surface of the beach may heat up to 45°C.

The wide range of amusement and recreation opportunities includes trips to the Danube Delta and the other resorts on the Romanian Black Sea Coast, to the Adamclisi monument or to the ruins of the Histria fortress (7^th century BC).
